Shelby Barzyk, COTA/L

Miss Shelby studied at Macomb Community College attaining my Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in general education and AAS in occupational therapy. She has always loved working with kids as growing up, her go to job was nannying/babysitting. Throughout her clinical and educational experience in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) school, most of her experience was geriatrics and older adults while she worked part time in a nursing home. Once she came across a home care pediatric job, she fell in love instantly. She loves helping little minds grow and being a big part of a child’s developmental journey and childhood. Shelby encourages play based learning and allowing the children to just be themselves and learn through play. Watching kids grow up and achieve all of their goals and skills is very rewarding.

During her free time, Shelby enjoys spending time with family and her husband, hanging out with her 2 cats, 2 dogs, and 4 chickens, bowling, and doing crafts🖍️

Cassandra Whiteaker, OTR/L

Miss Cassie has been working with kids of varying abilities since high school.  She chose a career in occupational therapy while taking care of special needs children at an orphanage in Jamaica. That stirred up a passion for helping people of all abilities develop skills, confidence, and success to do the things they want to do. She graduated with her master's in Occupational Therapy from Western Michigan University in 2009 and has worked in various pediatric settings since then.

She uses her trainings in MNRI (reflex integration), myofascial release, Handwriting Without Tears, feeding therapy techniques, as well as personal experiences to guide each child's plan.  She takes a more natural and holistic approach to treatment and strives to help each child find and develop their superpowers!

Outside of the therapy world, she is usually found coaching robotics, soccer, and Bible quizzing teams; hanging out with friends; or spending time with her husband and 6 kids (usually in the stands or on the sidelines of an event)... and drinking a LOT of coffee to keep up with all of that!
